Preparing for the Kiddos

I made it through my first week as a real teacher! This has been a CRAZY week, but I have learned so much. In addition to preparing my classroom for Monday, I have been going through teacher training between 4 and 8 hours every day. While it has made for some reeeally long days and nights, I have had so much fun getting everything ready.

My sweet, sweet boyfriend has been awesome and so understanding about my lack of sleep and occasional crankiness, and even made the 90 minute commute with me this week to help hang bulletin boards and laminate things! :)

Everyone at my new school is so friendly and welcoming; I couldn't have hand-picked a better staff to work with. My mentor teacher is so awesome, and I will probably end up owing her the moon this year for all the good advice and help I'm getting from her!

I have added a slideshow below to show the progress I've made on my classroom thus far. It's still a little bare due to lack of materials, but when it is filled with 26 kiddos and their work, it will look much more inviting. Of course, if any teachers out there have any creative ideas for ways to make my small space seem a little more inviting, I welcome them!
