I am a recent college graduate from Southern Illinois, and I started this blog because yesterday I found out that I will be making a big move, about 4 hours north of home, to begin my very first big girl job as a kindergarten teacher. I figured that there will be some funny- if not interesting, at the very least- stories to relate to my loved ones, and any strangers that might come across this blog and need a good laugh.
Already the beginning of this year has been a whirlwind. I got a call for an interview and left the same night, ready to interview the next day. I got the offer on Friday and have just one day to pack up all my belongings and shoes and head up north. School starts for teachers on Monday, so I don't really have much time to think about what a big change this is going to be in my life. But...that's the way I prefer to do things; jump right in, I say!!
School begins for the kiddos in just over a week. I will be going into a completely empty classroom, except for desks and chairs. So far this has been my biggest worry, but my friends and family have pulled through like the amazing people I know they are, and I'm already well on my way to a furnished classroom, and I haven't even left yet! In just a few short hours my old cooperating teacher, the members of my childhood church, and an old high school friend came through to donate more than enough to give me a good start next week.
So far I'm just really excited that my dream is finally coming true. I am ready to start my "big girl" life, finding a place to live, making new friends, and learning how to become an awesome teacher! For those of you who are seasoned vet's at all this growing up stuff, your advice and words of wisdom are welcomed with open arms! :)
